MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (11-12, 8-8) swept Chowan (5-21, 1-15) in the Conference Carolinas regular season finale, 3-0, Saturday afternoon on the road at the Helms Center.

The Bulldogs swept the Hawks by scores of 25-21, 25-20 and 25-10 and took both matches in the season series against the Hawks.

Barton freshman outside hitter Allison Gambill (Hickory, N.C.) led the way offensively with 12 kills to go along with 12 digs while sophomore setter Sarah Kirk (Pearland, Texas) and freshman setter Megan McCain (Trinity, Fla.) added 15 and 14 assists, respectively, in the win.  The Bulldogs also limited the Hawks to a 0.064 hitting percentage and totaled eight blocks in the win.

Chowan was led by Anixa Rosa-Martinez (San Lorenzo, PUERTO RICO) with seven kills and seven digs but the Hawks suffered their 14th consecutive league loss.

Barton will next compete in the 2019 Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship – most likely against Emmanuel (Ga.) – on Tuesday, November 19, in the quarterfinal round on the road in Gaffney, S.C.  The league's official announcement will take place later.
