FLORENCE, S.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (8-2-1) upset No. 7 Francis Marion (5-2-1), 2-1, in double overtime Wednesday night at Hartzler Field.

Barton freshman forward Omar Aboutaleb (Asheboro, N.C.) scored the match-winner 5:44 into the second overtime, his fourth goal of the year.  Aboutaleb's one-touch volley from about 18 yards out was assisted by both freshman defender Halldor Thorsteinsson (Sandnes, NORWAY) and freshman midfielder Throstur Jonasson (Dalvik, ICELAND).

The score was also Aboutaleb's second in overtime this year with all four goals have coming in the past four matches.

Barton junior forward Ruben Mancio (Cadiz, SPAIN) tied the contest at one in the 51st minute – his fourth goal of the year as well – as the Bulldogs won their second straight contest.  Francis Marion's Javier Bello (Madrid, SPAIN) opened the scoring at the 19:21 mark but the Patriots lost their second straight match.

Francis Marion held a 16-4 edge in shots taken but Barton senior goalkeeper Francisco Noguera (Santiago, CHILE) tallied nine saves to help preserve the victory.  Yosimar Huerta (Laredo, Texas) took the loss in goal for the Patriots.

Barton returns to the pitch on Saturday at 4:00 p.m., against Southern Wesleyan in a Conference Carolinas match in Central, S.C., while Francis Marion hosts Flagler Saturday beginning at 6:00 p.m.
