Barton men’s basketball outlasted by Lees-McRae, 112-106, in overtime

BANNER ELK, N.C. –  The Barton men's basketball team (5-10, 3-5) lost its second straight overtime Conference Carolinas contest, this time to Lees-McRae (11-3, 4-2) by a 112-106 score Saturday afternoon at Williams Gymnasium.

Lees-McRae's Andrew Gardner (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) and Jason Saintizaire (Lake Worth, Fla.) both scored 22 points each as the Bobcats rallied to win after forcing overtime with the score tied at 97 thanks to a lay-up from Sidney Dollar (Denver, N.C.) with time running out in the second half.  The Bobcats won their third straight game in the process.

Barton junior forward Isaiah Reddish (Durham, N.C.) led all scorers with 32 points in addition to 11 rebounds while senior guard Jeff Gordon (Woodbridge, Va.) scored 19 points but the Bulldogs couldn't hold a 79-72 advantage with just under eight minutes left in the setback. 

Lees-McRae's Jerick Haynes (Shelby, N.C.) opened overtime with a three-pointer which proved to be the game-winner.  Haynes finished with 17 points and was one of six players to score in double figures for the Bobcats.  Lees-McRae also totaled with 13 treys on the day and forced Barton into 21 turnovers.  Barton junior guard Imrie Worley (Woodbridge, Va.) added 14 points in the losing effort as well.

In the next round of Conference Carolinas games on Saturday afternoon beginning at 4:00 p.m., Barton hosts North Greenville while Lees-McRae faces Mount Olive in Mount Olive, N.C.
