EMMANUEL, GA. – Three home runs helped power the Barton baseball team to a 12-1 Conference Carolinas' win over host Emmanuel College on Friday night.

Barton (19-12, 4-9) began the game with four runs in the first inning, using RBI singles from Andrew Webster and Chase Riker and a two-run home run from Calvin Hawke to build an early lead.

Another run crossed the plate for BC in the fourth inning when Christian Dix score from third on a passed ball. Dix added an RBI single to his day in the fifth to move the Barton lead to 6-0 over the Lions.

In the sixth inning Hunter Pearre sent a ball over the left field fence to score two runs for the Bulldogs, as Shawn Montren also drove in a run in the inning. A three-run home run by Gatlin Pate in the seventh concluded the scoring for Barton.

Emmanuel's (11-18, 4-12) lone run came on a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh.

The run was the only blemish on the scoreboard for Barton starter Dylan Ward (6-2) who went the distance for the second straight outing and third time this season. The right-hander allowed just one run on seven hits with seven strikeouts in the victory.

Pearre was 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, a home run and two RBI. The junior also scored three runs and walked twice, while Hawke was 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored of his own.

Riker turned in a 3-for-5 performance, as Webster and Troy Maslowski had two hits apiece.

Barton and Emmanuel conclude the three-game series with a doubleheader tomorrow, beginning at Noon.
